2.1. Information Gathered.

IBS Research Appeal gathers statistical information about visitors to this site, by means of traffic data. This is information which does not personally identify individual visitors, but which may be helpful for improving the services we offer. For example, the time of day when the most visits occur can help us to infer geographically where our visitors live (and may influence our choice of currencies in which to offer our publications for sale). Details of which of our pages are most visited (and which are not!) enables us to improve the usefulness and appeal of our site. Additionally, any demographic information gathered may be used in our ongoing research into IBS. When we are running surveys or inviting participation or feedback, we invite participants to leave us their e-mail addresses. This is always for a specific purpose stated at the time, for example if a participant wishes to be notified by e-mail of the results of a survey.

2.2 Use of Information.

Demographic information gathered is only used within IBS Research Appeal in conjunction with our research programmes. E-mail addresses given by participants in surveys and registration etc are used only for the purposes stated at the time, e.g. to enable the participants to receive survey results. If at the time of giving your e-mail address to IBS Research Appeal you indicate that you would be willing to participate further, then we may contact you to conduct research regarding IBS via on-line surveys.

2.3 Disclosure of Information.

IBS Research Appeal and its associates keeps all of your personal information private and does not share it with any third parties. We will only disclose your personal information if we have reasonable cause to believe that we must do so (1) to comply with legal requirements or (2) to protect the rights, property or other interests of IBS Research Appeal, its associates, subscribers, customers and patrons.

2.4 Communication from IBS Research Appeal.
